BROMILEY LTD - About us
Prior to the change of ownership in 2003, this
business started out over 30 years ago as a hairdressing shop.
After a few years Alan Bromiley moved into ‘toupees’
and along with his wife Norma diversified into wigs and fancy
dress. For many years they served both the general public
and amateur theatre groups with fancy dress and wigs. In 2003
both Norma and Alan decided to retire and that is when the
present owners Margaret and Sheryl decided to go into partnership.

Since the takeover, many new changes have been made to the
interior of the shop. New fitting rooms, a separate stage
wig room and also a private fitting room for clients who have
medical conditions that have resulted in hair loss.
Our motto is: "If we haven’t got it –
we know a man who has!" The staff at Bromiley’s
are friendly and always willing to help with ideas and suggestions
of what to dress up as, or how to obtain an item from their
huge range of fancy dress hire and sale costumes. Why not
have a fun day out and visit the shop, you'll feel as though
you're in an Aladdin’s Cave.
A new mail order service is
now available together with a full range of theatrical make-up
and accessories.
Margaret Taylor - Director
Margaret has been involved in amateur and professional theatre
for over forty years as a performer in both plays and musicals.
She is delighted to have joined her very good friend Sheryl
in running Bromiley’s and combining her lifetime hobby
with her new career. She still appears regularly on stage
and also finds time to be the Secretary of Crewe
Amateur Operatic Society.
Sheryl Haydock-Howorth - Director
Sheryl comes from a hairdressing background with all family
members having owned their own businesses in and around South
Manchester. She is also a Director and Choreographer and has
been involved in both amateur and professional theatre since
the age of 11. Like Margaret she is delighted to make the
transition of hobby into a business and finds her experience
in the theatre helpful to the customers.
Elaine Bamford
Elaine is a fully qualified City & Guilds hairdresser
with over 26 years experience. She has worked for Bromiley’s
for approx 9 years prior to it being taken over by the present
owners. Her expertise is in helping patients that may have
been receiving special medical treatment and who require a
wig due to hair loss.
Christine Marlow
Christine also worked for the previous owners of the company
for over 10 years and brings a wealth of experience to the
new owners. Like Elaine she is a fully qualified hairdresser
and wig dresser. Christine has styled stage wigs for many
years for both professional and amateur productions and is
highly recommended by others for her work.
